"From the Picture Press: Our Good Days and Our Bad" Exhibition
Alan Klotz Gallery
This event has ended.
Events overtake us. Often, they are accompanied by images representing their occurrence. These images can be bland and diffuse, offering us little beyond the obvious, , or they can be indelible and riveting. The image is of the event, but the image also stands for what the event means, for the immediate audience it shows us what happened, but if it's really strong it will keep defining the importance of the event through history. We have gathered some of these latter photographs to not only remind us of what events have befallen us, as in history... but also as evidence that photographs can sometimes describe, express and define experience.
The photographs "take us there", as the journalistic law proclaims...but then it stays with us, burnt into our retinas, as an iconic connection to the news of the day.
