This event has ended.

Growing up in Florida during the 1960s, the heyday of the Space Age, Barrado could not fail to be affected by its pervasive influence. Among the subjects on which she trained her camera are the rockets and space capsules of the Kennedy Space Center.

Using a wide-angle lens and infrared film, Barrado has perfectly paired method and intent in these photographs, giving us a vision of eerie, uncanny environments imbued with the aura of science fiction. The lush and fecund vegetation of sub-tropical Florida glows with other-worldly presence in counterpoint to the steel, titanium and aluminum of the rocket ships and related hardware. The viewer is made to ponder: What planet are we on? Have these spaceships travelled to a galaxy other than our own? Who are the inhabitants of these photographs? Are we dreaming? Are we in paradise? Or in hell?
