Over 110 paintings, photographs, sculptures, and works on paper by 35 contemporary artists will be exhibited at the galleries of the American Academy of Arts and Letters on historic Audubon Terrace (Broadway between 155 and 156 Streets) from Thursday, March 10 through Sunday, April 10, 2011. Exhibiting artists were chosen from a pool of nearly 200 nominees submitted by the 250 members of the Academy, America’s most prestigious honorary society of architects, artists, writers, and composers.
Exhibiting artists were chosen from a pool of 175 artists nominated by members of the Academy. Participating artists are eligible to have paintings or works on paper purchased and donated to an American museum through the Academy's Hassam, Speicher, Betts, and Symons Purchase Fund, or to receive one of seven awards, which include five Arts and Letters Awards in Art, the Jimmy Ernst Award, and the Rosenthal Family Foundation Award.
