This event has ended.

Westwood Gallery presents a group exhibition which explores the concept of portraiture (both of individuals and iconic personalities) and how it can be interpreted as a public statement, as well as a documentation of private moments. Furthermore, portraiture can be manipulated to create an imaginary universe or a template for the manipulation of individual imagery.

The exhibition includes photography and painting. The photographs by Douglas Kirkland document the iconic personality of Coco Chanel in both private and public occasions, while the paintings by Bryan El Castillo explore contemporary identity issues and the pervasive influence of media and iconic personalities in shaping the individual. Following a similar concept, the photographs by Gianni Monteleone create familiar but un-real imagery which is the product of the artist and not documentation.
