Jerry Thompson and Walker Evans "Pictures of People"

The exhibition presents the story of two photographers and the profound influence of the latter on the former. They met in 1971 when Thompson was a student of Evans’ at Yale and later, becoming his assistant and friend, spending much of the last three years of Evans’ life alongside him. Thompson’s last solo exhibition in New York was in 1982, and a few images have since been shown in New York City. This juxtaposition of Thompson’s prints, some never-seen-before, and a set of extraordinary Evans prints produced by John T. Hill will be on view.
