This event has ended.

Through the medium of glitter and paint on canvas, Camomile Hixon explores pop culture anew with super-sized words, images and symbols. There is a 70's disco quality to the paintings reminiscent of mirrored car wash signs and gold lamé curtain calls. Pieces composed of huge glittering letters, examine words and their layered meanings, an exploration which developed from her work as a songwriter and musician. She is intrigued by the idea of depicting a word and letting the mind roam free for the images. The shimmering quality of the glitter breathes life into the words, and allows for a deeper resonance with subtle meanings and interpretations. Hixon also creates paintings of enormous flowers, twinkling fireworks and signs and symbols.
When a piece manages to cause an inner smirk, the art is working, and when it happens to be beautiful, and lift someone's mood, the mission is complete.
