Elliott Lloyd "Recent Paintings"
Y Gallery (the Bowery)
This event has ended.
Y Gallery presents ELLIOT LLOYD, Recent Paintings, curated by Cecilia Jurado. Various materials shape the latest journey of Elliott Lloyd. The work shows how Mr. Lloyd became, through the years, more and more isolated, more and more engaged with painting in the most old fashioned way, where the artist awaits for the idea to come out of his head, out of the relationship with his solitude and his internal desires. The result brings the very extraordinary, sensory experience between the public and the work as the best of an abstract painting can do.
Elliott Lloyd was born in Sioux City, Iowa and moved to New York when he was 23 years old. He attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Mr. Lloyd has had solo exhibitions at the Soho Center for Visual Artists, Hal Bromm Gallery, Abraham Sachs Gallery and Y Gallery. His work is in the collection of The Whitney Museum, Aldrich Museum, and Newark Museum, as well as in many universities, galleries, and private collections. He has been reviewed by The New York Times, Art Forum, Art International, Art in New York, and Art News. He lives and works in New York.
