poster for Javier Riaño Exhibition

This event has ended.

The Gabarron Foundation presents the exhibition of the Spanish Artist Javier Riaño. The series of works by painter Javier Riaño (Bilbao, 1959) that occur in the Foundation in May is indicative of the interests around which his work has developed in recent years.

Javier Riaño emerged in the artistic context of the Basque Country of the 80 into a stream of artists who developed a realistic figurative work, sometimes leading to the hyper-touch that made the industrial architecture of the buildings in ruins and of the dark alleys of the city of Bilbao the main reason for his work. Soon, these characteristics experienced in that first series applied them to his usual theme: architectures. This combination resulted Riaño the creative streak has exploded in the last five years, whose last pieces shown in Gabarrón Foundation. In this sense, it is true that in this series is a continuation of a theme already developed by Riaño in his work of the eighties and early nineties.

Unlike the city, there are no excessive images, overloading of the retina. So, no matter if the cause or consequence, there is no noise. And in that silence emerges what some call the spirit of the place, the soul that makes traveling through these areas as we do, dominated a thoughtful silence, friendly or scary, it's up everyone.
