This event has ended.

"Women in Tuxedos" is a solo show by Jack Dzamba of black & white photographs of women wearing the photographer's own tuxedo, and shot in the elegant and sophisticated style of Coco Chanel and Yves St. Laurent. "Women in Tuxedos" is a work in progress and will premiere at Jack's gallery in New York City, PaulaBarr chelsea on December 2, 2010. When completed the project will result in a book of the same name.

The aim of the project is to have each model wear the artist's tuxedo and bring some favorite pieces of clothing and accessories to the shoot so that the tuxedo is transformed and the model's personality comes through.

At one of the shoots, the model brought her favorite silk scarf, which produced an image with an elegant and sensuous look. In another shoot, the model brought a black fur collar piece that she wore over a white tuxedo shirt without the jacket. In another, the model, who rides horses, brought her riding boots and crop, and stuffed the tuxedo pants into her boots, and wore an over-girth in place of a cummerbund. The shoot resulted in a beautiful "Daughter of the Estate" look. In another image, the subtitle contrasts between the candle, champagne glass, the model's wrist tattoo and her chaste silver brooch resulted in visual comparisons that keep drawing the viewer back.

The images are elegant and sexy portraits. Because she makes it her own, each model feels entirely comfortable in (or out of) the men's formal wear. All the models who have participated in the shoots thought they were great fun.

The images are stunning and combine the worlds of fashion and fine art in a unique way.
