In this series of object photographs, Bendikov challenges our most cherished notions of beauty by substituting the ubiquitous female form so often seen in commercial and fashion photography with oil production equipment. By replacing traditional objects of desire and seduction with metal parts, Bendikov transforms raw machinery into objects of temptation and greed. Bendikov demonstrates mastery of light and form, allowing us to see concrete objects in their most abstract manifestation.
Boris Bendikov was born in 1968 in Moscow, Russia, where he continues to live and work. He has been extensively exhibited and has participated in biennales and art fairs throughout the world, including the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach. Naked Iron is his first solo exhibition with Sputnik Gallery.
