This event has ended.

NY Studio Gallery is pleased to present the 5th Annual ARTcamp 2010: Studio Residency Program. For eight weeks, the gallery will be transformed into studio space for six artists. The work will range from installation and sculpture to drawing and painting with a tendency toward geographic and figurative works. NY Studio Gallery invites the public to interact with the artists, experience the work in progress and watch the dynamic of the gallery space as it changes during the residency program.

Two artists will be focused on installation. Liz Atzberger is planning on documenting her evolving workspace with an installation of painting and mixed media works. Exploring the idea of renewal, Emilie Selden will be growing a live garden in the space. Multimedia artist David Friedman’s studio will be a layered dialogue between shaved cowhides and acrylic paintings on canvas. Lauren Smith will install drawings to create an interactive and voyeuristic experience of New York City's urban landscape. The space will also include two artists focused on the medium of painting. Confronting unspoken issues related to loss, fear, death, and grief, Jason Kass considers the possibility of empathy within the artist-viewer relationship. Using layers of acrylic and oil paint, Yea Jin Song plans to explore even greater possibilities for her large-scale fantastic landscapes.
