Tamar Rosen’s exquisite paintings hearken back to the idea of the artist as a naturalist. She has an incredible sense for texture and how it varies depending on lighting conditions. Rosen’s brushwork infuses subjects with an elemental rhythm that comes alive with energy. Gradations of color provide a nearly sculptural influence to each work; whether it be the scales of a fish or the petals of a flower, these minute variations lend an air of realism to a style that often approaches Impressionism.
