Born in Paris, France and growing up in New York City, Aljosa Daumerie's inspiration derives from his father who is a Soho-based artist, and his stepfather, an abstract painter, as well as the graffiti movements in both cities. Wanting to bring more discipline to his work, Daumerie attended the prestigious École Supérieure d'Arts Graphique - Penninghen (l'Académie Julian) in Paris where immersion in traditional techniques, theory, and art history transitioned his work from street-based art to large studio pieces. Daumerie also attended the School of Visual Arts & F.I.T. in New York City where he studied graphic design and fine arts. Daumerie's large-scale paintings and mixed media pieces incorporate images from television and American pop culture as well as elements of street-art from his youth in the '80s to the contemporary scene.
