This event has ended.

The Katharina Rich presents Changing Summer Group Exhibition, featuring pieces from the Gallery inventory including works never previously shown.

New Talent debuts at the Gallery with Miami native, Caroline Geys. Her Favela series incorporates vibrant architectural design inspired by the bustling Brazilian favelas. Exploring the beauty of the displaced, the artist uses crisp lines, bright colors and compositional harmony to create a vigorous aesthetic. Her geometric urban landscapes provide a modern view into the shanty, heartening the disheartened and finding wonder amidst chaos. Talented in multiple arenas, the artist also pursues fashion and interior design and has been the spotlight of various magazines and press in the Miami area.

Also new to the Gallery, Fred Danziger investigates the relationship between the city and its inhabitants. Cinematically and candidly catching New York City at a moment in time, the works eloquently echo a breath of the cityscape – full of life, color, movement, and light. Taxis, advertisements, tourists and delis become one in the whirlwind that is the city constituting a complete sensory experience of sights, sounds and smells. Brilliantly encompassing the essence of New York, the works are brimming with intensity and offer a stimulating glimpse into the heady atmosphere of the metropolis.

An urban painter as well, Brian Shure shows prominently with a stunning work, Museum Steps, a masterpiece of detail of a daily view of the Metropolitan Museum and a profound documentation of history in the making. From the visitors’ clothes to the architecture to the subtle gradation of light and shadow, the artist presents a time and a place impossibly specific as a glorious testament to a day in the modern world. John Recco’s playful piece [our summer invitation card] focuses on falling Converse sneakers surrounded by graphic drops of water perhaps recalling a childhood running through fire hydrants in the summertime. Surrounded by sky, their laces flying upwards, the sneakers fall triumphantly like haloed icons with a touch of humor and a touch of nostalgia.
