Howard Hodgkin "Prints from the Collection, 1987–2002"
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
This event has ended.
Eleven monumental prints by the internationally renowned British artist Howard Hodgkin (b. 1932) are on view in this installation. Hodgkin's prints are multi-layered compositions wherein many printing plates, inked with a multitude of colors, produce dense strata of texture and hue. In recent years Hodgkin's prints have grown in size, and he has adopted techniques that allow for delicate, transparent glazes, jewel-like color, and extravagant flourishes of the brush.
