This event has ended.

Deirdre Nolan's Sonogram Project exhibits a three-part installation that responds to anxiety-inspired visions of her futuristic daughters during their visits to present time. The stop-motion video, from which the other elements stem, documents the artist performing pseudo sonogram scans. The procedure results in fluid and fuzzed images placed alongside three etchings of the artist’s hypothetical progeny. The piece explores themes concerning the mind of a young woman today, overthrown by the implications of womanhood and motherhood. The urge to procreate is dealt with through uncanny obsessive ritual, combining powerful desire and technological wonder. Technology's tragic imposition of narcissism and the desire to reproduce oneself is explored through the therapeutic process: The Sonogram Project.
