For his second solo exhibition, self-proclaimed “stuff maker” and animator Premo has created wallpapered panels and interactive assemblages that transform the gallery into a theatre of elaborate systems. He invites you to literally and metaphorically “stick your head inside this hole” and contemplate the value of life’s cyclical systems and the paradox of participating in them.
With humor and meticulous attention to detail, MAC PREMO expresses a fascination for working with wood, a material which often acts as the framework, vessel and subject of intricately wrought assemblages that are self-reflexive in method and meaning. His works combine evocative words and phrases, images culled from popular culture, digital animations and mechanical elements that invite physical engagement.
