This event has ended.

In the new show, all three artists aim to create a tangible work that represents the change, unpredictability, and yet invariability of the world around them, through simply understanding the beauty in the forms of everyday objects or by capturing the mystery of a misty mountain range. Their works are focused around not only movement, time and irregularity, but the importance of the connection between the artists, nature and their artworks; Overbay’s creation of the dots leads her to meditation, Michiyo Ihara's obsessive drawings explore endless nature possibilities, while Najaran stresses the importance of having a hands-on connection through sewing in her pieces.

Paula Overbay’s featured paintings are influenced by the ideas of luminous color and airy surfaces, a reflection on her time spent hiking on Mount Hood. Her works are colorful, portraying many tiny dots that lead to “an exercise in following one’s nose,” By focusing on making one dot at a time, she allows herself to fall into meditation. Influenced by color and abstract patterns, as well as through the notions of change and movement, Overbay’s works seek to show the ideas of impermanence. Trained as a graphic designer, Arpie Gennetian Najaran uses different mediums such as ink, paper, and thread to illustrate the idea of predictability and unpredictability at the same time in everyday objects. She believes that it is important to have a hands-on relationship with all of her pieces, and therefore she hand sews plus assembles all of the elements that go into her works. By utilizing the many different mediums, she captures a specific moment in time through each piece, and focuses on lines to portray “the essence of an image through abstraction”. Michiyo Ihara chooses snowflakes as a medium to express the infinite possibilities of the universe. Her obsessive drawings are a tribute of endless possibilities and carry us to an hypnotic journey.
