This event has ended.

Kristi Ryba’s stop-motion animations, The Teddy Bear Picnic, Baby Doll! and The Fairy
Tale of Everyday Life feature singing and dancing dolls, dollhouse scenes of a dying mother,
as well as everyday activities of home, family, and the domestic sphere. Using dolls and
dolls houses in her video work, Ryba arranges, manipulates and directs the dolls on these
improvised sets. These stop-motion animations are the embodiment of a mature notion of
play and possess energy, unpredictability and an attention to detail that draw the viewer in.

MaryJo Rosania-Harvie’s works Glass Bra, One Manifestation, and Conversation are
performances on video. The artist created a series of garments based on feminine archetypes
to underscore the feminine body, then performed in the costumes. Two of the videos are
collaboration with the artist’s husband, Daniel Harvie who created the soundtracks. Rosania-
Harvie reinvents and critiques domestic roles by combining a strip tease dance with vacuum
cleaning and by serving wine and honey from the bust of her gown.
