This event has ended.

DFN Gallery presents Water, featuring recent oil paintings and graphite drawings by Jan Aronson. These paintings and drawings are based upon photographs Aronson has taken on her annual trips to Anguilla, in the Caribbean. While the paintings depict the abstract forms and the multitude of colors that result from the crashing waves and the play of light upon the sea, Aronson, above all, captures the energy erupting from beneath the surface. These are portraits of living, breathing forms in motion rather than traditional landscapes.

According to the artist, these works are “about water, but also about paint and making art and responding to how I see the world and the human condition. Even with the instability of life around us, we still have to find some sort of anchor - some way to navigate through life’s uncertainties.”

Jan Aronson studied painting and drawing in New Orleans and New York. She is a member of Artists’ Equity and the National Association of Women Artists, as well as a Board Member of the Skowhegan School. She has been exhibiting in both solo and group shows (including New Landscapes here at DFN earlier this year) for over 40 years. Her work can be seen in many private, public, and corporate collections internationally, including the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Eiteljorg Museum, Fairfield University, and the United States Mission in Geneva, Switzerland. She currently resides and works in New York. This will be Ms. Aronson’s first one-person show at DFN Gallery.
