Mr. Munenori Makino is an artist specializing in traditional Japanese wood block prints. He produces his pieces from start to finish, including painting, carving and printing. He has followed in the footsteps of ukiyo-e masters of the Edo Period such as Hokusai and Hiroshige and is able to convey the vibrancy of life and nature through his advanced technique. Mr. Makino has been blessed with both traditional and innovative talent. In 2003, he received the Chief Secretary’s Prize from the Agency of Cultural Affairs in Japan. He recently created huge-scale ceramic wall prints hanging in the Shizuoka Airport Terminal. His work is highly acclaimed both in Japan and abroad.
