Denise Bibro Fine Art presents Dusty Boynton: Out of Line, the artist's fifth solo show at the gallery, on view October 21 through December 11, 2010. Boynton's new series of works on paper are rendered with exuberant, gestural zest, as she continues to delve deep into the realms of the inner child, emotional conflict, and psychology.
Boynton approaches her work with a sense of immediacy, transparency, and vulnerability. As Donald Kuspit notes in his essay, "Boynton's works are as timelessly fresh as ever: the inner child remains alive and well in her art. He goes on to add that she is "a masterful colorist and gesturalist, but above all, her works are painterly drawings."
Out of Line refers not only to Boynton's maverick mark making, but to the raw demeanor and unpredictable behavior of her subjects. At times joyous, but also embodying anger, fear, regret, and self-doubt, they are humble creatures to whom we somehow all relate.
