Chang Ho Han "Star within a Star"
Kips Gallery
This event has ended.
At first glance, Chang-Ho Han’s work seems deceptively straight forward. All based on a five points star inscribed in a circle they read more as an emblem or logo then a work of art per-se. After a closer sustained scrutiny, the sophisticated colors use, the overlapping star within a star, the almost op-art qualities of some, and the “metal-like” shine on all of the work reveals an uncommon virtuoso sophistication. The work starts to speak of a personal expression and aspiration toward wholeness and coherence. Like the stain-glass rose windows of Medieval Europe Cathedrals, they operate on many levels. The circle, symbolic of the unity of all things contains triangles forming stars or stability transcending duality. Chang-Ho Han work is steeped in this search for wholeness and these paintings are beautiful testimonies of his journey.
