This event has ended.

Viladomat has been considered as one of the most important figurative Spanish painters from the end of the 20th century. This is the result of his unique understanding of the universe in a humble and mystic way, but combined with the most fantastic technique. Although the perfect treatment of light and color reminds us to the most academic painting, the composition of forms and chromatic conception of his work guide our senses and thoughts to an in-depth knowledge of humanity, making him extraordinarily contemporary relevant. He leads us through a collection of pieces full of soul: still lifes, solitary landscapes and portraits that may transport us to a spiritual way of seizing reality.

The show at The Gabarron Foundation in New York features key pieces of this mixture of mysticism and hyperrealism. This exhibition comprises twenty paintings in which Viladomat translates a vision of the world that not only reminds us to writers like Unamuno, Machado or Camilo José Cela in their wandering across Castilian land, but also to the traditional Spanish painting of ascetic still lifes from the 17th century, where absence and silence are very fundamental concepts.
