Homer Page served as one of Edward Steichen’s chief assistants during the planning of the landmark exhibition, "The Family of Man" which debuted at The Museum of Modern Art on January 24, 1955. Most of the artists in the exhibition were represented by one or two photographs but Page was fortunate to have nine of his images included – a testament to the strength of his work. Steichen received more than two million photographs from professionals and amateurs from around the world. He selected 503 pictures by 273 photographers from 68 countries and grouped them thematically around subjects relevant to all cultures such as love, children, and death. "The Family of Man" toured the world for eight years, making stops in thirty-seven countries on six continents.
