This event has ended.

At first glimpse one might question exactly what the two artists have in common. Truth be told, their work differs greatly. J.A.G. (just another glassblower) is known for his focus on form and three-dimensional sculpture. His most recent inspiration nods to a modern aesthetic referencing shapes and lines of Deco-era art and architecture while his use of black, white and minimal color comes across very sterile and clean. Slinger, on the other hand, takes many cues from the stencil-graffiti inspired work of the 1980’s using pop-culture imagery, à la Warhol, to make political, humorous and often shocking statements on societal conventions. In 2006 a glass pipe competition brought the two together in Burlington, VT. When Slinger relocated to J.A.G.’s native Philadelphia shortly after, their common interests in urban hip-hop culture and the desire to carve a niche market to make and sell their work cultivated a close friendship.

Wiz Wit showcases all the strengths of J.A.G. and Slinger individually but also illustrates the beauty of collaboration in the best sense of the word. Sand-blasted stencils from Slinger meet elegant three dimensional creations from J.A.G. And voila: pop sculpture!
