Open End is a video art show that presents five international female artists. The artists Bahar Behbahani (IR), Maria Zervou (GR), Miriam Kruishoop (NL), Pépé Smit (NL), Sanghee Song (KR) show five positions of women in today's society with different cultural background and their approach to universal issues such as the relation with the body, power relations, love, death, life, freedom, etc..

Bahar Behbahani, “Saffron Tea”, 2009
Bahar Behbahani was born in Tehran (IR), lives and works in New York and Tehran. Extracted from her own experience, Behbahani’s work revolves around the cognitive dissonance between comforting familial attitudes and cultural brutality.

Maria Zervou, “Traveler”, 2010
Maria Zervou, born in Athens (GR), lives and works in Amsterdam and Athens. From October 2010 she will be doing a residency in New York. Zervou’s work explores the potential relation between internal/external and personal/public space.

Miriam Kruishoop, “Possession”, 2010
Miriam Kruishoop was born in The Netherlands, lives and works in Los Angeles, New York and Amsterdam. Kruishoop’s work deal with the complex female nature and the internal conflicts with which they are confronted.

Pépé Smit, “Déjeuner sur L'herbe. Life is a Picnic”, 2010
Pépé Smit was born in The Netherlands, lives and works in Amsterdam. Smit shares the vision of Schopenhauer on boredom, pain and happiness. ‘Boredom’ as a lack of suspense and excitement is seen as the most dreary state man can get to.

Sanghee Song, “The National Theater”, 2004
Sanghee Song, was born in Seoul, (KR), lives and works in Seoul and Amsterdam. Song’s works revolve around various myths of the modern nation-state as expressed and spread in the post-WWII South Korea.
