This event has ended.

Born prematurely and 1 of 6 children, Antonio Rodriguez made his grand entrance into this world on January 1, 1964 to immigrant parents in the back of a taxi cab while his mother was on the way to the hospital to give birth.

His first introduction to art was “The Dripping Clocks” by Salvador Dali and he would be completely fascinated by it forever. Today, Dali is a major inspiration to Rodriguez’ life and art.

During his teen years, a man who wasn’t able to paint due to crippling arthritis gave him pastels. The man told him that he will see amazing things through art and will view the world in a very different and unique way.

In his early 20s, Rodriguez was introduced to oil and canvas and would spend entire nights painting while his imagination ran free and naturally. Ever since, painting has been his way of expressing his dreams, feelings and views of life.

Rodriguez’ early work was very primitive in style but his passion for surrealism was always expressed. He took jewelry manufacturing and technique courses and combined with this previous skill, he began creating stone and ceramic sculptures and statues. Along with his vibrant paintings, these works also play a major role in his current artistic expression.
