Established in 1885 by Charles W. Kraushaar (1854–1917), Kraushaar Galleries is one of the oldest, continuously running art galleries in the United States. In the early years, the gallery was managed by both Charles and his younger brother John F. Kraushaar (1871–1946). Soon after the death of Charles in 1917, John enlisted the assistance of his daughter, Antoinette Kraushaar (1902–1992).
