This event has ended.

Homer Page met Dorothea Lange through his first wife Christina Gardner, who was Lange’s photographic assistant. They became close friends and even lived for a short period in a small cottage behind Lange’s own house in Berkeley, California. It was during this time that Page decided he would be a photographer and Lange was a strong influence. She actively encouraged him, critiquing his work, eventually suggesting that he send his photographs to the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Lange continued her support of Page by writing one of the recommendations for his application for a Guggenheim Fellowship.
