Freshly Minted Triggers is the most recent installment of wall mounted steel sculptures by New York based artist Arthur Mednick.
These latest fugitives from the mind of Mednick signiﬁcantly expand the scope of his work. Cross genre, cross style, cross type; this show is a wide-ranging riff of cascading inﬂuences. Alternating between ﬁgurative and abstract, elaborate and reductive, the work is installed to capitalize on the peculiar associations and rhythms set up by these intimate strangers.
From the heavy mass of "Fortunato's Last Brick" to the fuzzed out "Buck's Haircut", literary allusions, cool calculations, warm sentiments and animating notes are assembled in this extraordinarily grouped composition. Titles are used as reference points alternating between the cryptic and the evident, inviting speculation and connecting individual pieces into larger themes.
Infused with his soft sensual approach to steel these works show Mednick at his ﬁnest; extracting from deep in the groove.
