This event has ended.

This exhibition is a physical extension of my book. It is meant to summon a deep sense of nostalgia for the way we were during the war years.

I grew up in Hell's Kitchen when it was a pretty tough neighborhood. As a child I found great drama and romance in the area. All of my work evolves from my love of New York City. The city is always at the center of my books.

Lorraine B. Diehl has also written The Late, Great Pennsylvania Station, The Automat: The History, Recipes, and Allure of Horn & Hardart's Masterpiece and Subways: The Tracks That Built New York City. Her work was featured in an exhibition based on on The Automat at the Museum of the City of New York. She is currently working on a book about growing up in the city of the 1940s and 50s.
