This event has ended.

Born in Iran, but working in Netherlands, the added current sociopolitical unrest forces the question of art's ability to respond to these external conditions. All of the works included allow for a multitude of readings while individual emphasis varies, ranging from feminist to more overt political or formal concerns and in some cases eschewing them altogether. Based on photography collaged into grids, the allover effect gives an almost kaleidoscopic feel while, at the same time strongly echoing the tradition of American quilting. These works bespeak the deep feelings and concerns of an expatriate artist whose long cultural and artistic traditions are under greater pressures then almost any of today’s societies.
