This event has ended.

Leslie-Lohman Gay Art Foundation Gallery opens an exhibition of photography by Sophia Wallace in the newly constructed window gallery. Themes of gender, sexuality and identity take place in this exibition of portraiture.

In her first solo exhibition, Sophia Wallace will be showing eight large scale prints at the Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation Window Gallery from her two series--Modern Dandy & On Beauty--both of which are primarily concerned with gender and asthetics. With great emotion and tenderness, her subjects explore with great depth the psychology behind masculine representation.

Modern Dandy converges traditional elements of fashion photography with expolorations of race, gender and sexuality. Her newest series, On Beauty, questions the representation of masculinity as a monolith of unwavering strength choosing instead to look at the loveliness, receptivity and vulnerablitiy of men.

These photographs, part of our ongoing window series. This series is curated by Cora Lambert and brings the work of LGBTQ artists to a public domain to tackle issues of sex, gender, identity, pop culture and more.

This entire exhibition hangs in the 30 feet of street front window space at the Leslie/Lohman Gallery. Open for viewing 24/7 from the street, but lite only noon till 1am. Best viewing time is after sundown.
