This exhibition includes works on paper that date from the seventeenth century to the present day. A selection of French drawings includes recent acquisitions by Claude Vignon (1593–1670), Jacques André Portail (1695–1759), and Adélaïde Labille-Guiard (1749–1803) (see image), while other French works focus on visitors to eighteenth- and nineteenth-century art exhibitions.

Recently acquired landscapes by British artists Hugh William Williams (1773–1829), George Fennel Robson (1788–1833), George Chinnery (1754–1822), and William Callow (1812–1908) are on display (see also "Watercolor Painting in Britain, 1750–1850" on the Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History), as are works by artists who specialized in depicting birds. These include an early watercolor by Edward Lear (British, 1812–1888), prints by Henry Emerson Tuttle (American, 1890–1946) and Elizabeth Butterworth (British, b. 1949), and a printing plate designed by John James Audubon (American, 1785–1851). A selection of mezzotints includes early French and British examples as well as twentieth-century works by Craig McPherson (American, b. 1948) and Vija Celmins (American, b. Latvia, 1938). Finally, modern and contemporary American prints feature a newly acquired suite of etchings by Enrique Chagoya (American, b. Mexico, 1953) and works depicting architectural imagery by Wayne Thiebaud (American, b. 1920), Robert Moskowitz (American, b. 1935), Edward Ruscha (American, b. 1937), and Enoc Perez (American, 1967), among others.
