This event has ended.

Kate Werble Gallery presents The Switch, a new project by Rancourt/Yatsuk. In the format of a seminar, The Switch draws inspiration from the varied teachings, techniques, and characters that define the self-empowerment industry.

During the four-day debut in New York City, Rancourt/Yatsuk’s character Sean Sykes promises to show guests the path to mastering the four pillars of life: "The Physical. The Emotional. The Mental. The Financial." Sean and friends will take a journey exploring the foundations of reality and dissecting the human experience through the five natural forms of human sensation. Sean’s crash-course in Experiential Divergence Therapy (EDT) and sub-conscious reprogramming will give guests a glimpse of the immense power found within The Switch.

Rancourt/Yatsuk address American cultural phenomena, often taking the form of seminars or organized events. In The Switch, the duo conceives characters, an environment, and relevant paraphernalia to create a parody of specific moments drawn from the world of self-help entrepreneurs.

Justin Rancourt and Chuck Yatsuk orchestrate events and exhibitions centered on American leisure pastimes: mixing drinks, motivational speaking, real estate speculation, multi-level marketing, boating, and vacation planning. Born in Florida, Rancourt/Yatsuk currently live and work in New York City. Their work has been shown at Art In General, The Austrian Cultural Forum, and Kate Werble Gallery in New York, Nikolaj Contemporary Art Center in Copenhagen, Center For Contemporary Art (CCA) in Kitakyushu, Japan, and Kunst Projects in Berlin. Rancourt/Yatsuk were awarded residencies at Seok-su Art Project in Anyang, Korea and with In You We Trust, in Cushendall, Northern Ireland.
