Paul Strand "The Mexican Portforio"
The Bronx Museum of the Arts
This event has ended.
Organized in collaboration with Aperture Foundation, PAUL STRAND: THE MEXICAN PORTFOLIO features twenty gravure plates from Strand's 1967 reissue of The Mexican Portfolio. Paul Strand: The Mexican Portfolio highlights Strand's work from his second journey to Mexico in 1966, after his initial trip from 1932–34, when he deepened his involvement with Mexican art, society, and revolutionary politics through his photographic studies and work in film. Paul Strand: The Mexican Portfolio is part of wide-ranging series of events that the government of Mexico, through its embassy and consulates in the United States, is organizing to celebrate the bicentenary of the onset of the Mexican War of Independence and the centenary of the Mexican Revolution, both in 2010.
