“baker does Zen” is an exhibit of 13 photographs by New York-based photographer Yossi Zur. Zur's images take the ordinary out of its original environment, out of its temporal objectivity into a protected present which enables it to reach beyond, into a wider sphere of imagination. It has ceased to identify itself with the totality of its original experience. His photographs are exercises in mindfulness - gifts that allow the viewer to pause for a moment, pay attention, and arrive at the importance of the journey over the destination. The overlooked, seemingly mundane has become personalized and the self and the infinite are unified in time and space. The viewer feels an unexplained connection and it is this reconnection with our surroundings that reinvigorates the sense of being alive.
