Michael "Pooch" Pucciarelli, began his artistry as a thriving and prosperous tattoo artist. Owner of Altered State, a Florida-based tattoo studio, Pooch designates his fifteen years of tattooing and drawing as his most significant instructor in the cross-training as the established painter we know today. Self-taught, Pooch maintains a certain quality of daring ethnicity. His unique approach, blending a modern dark-surrealist palette with traditional cultural components, most significantly, Los Dios de los Muertes, is profound. The respect Pooch holds for his influences (Escher, Giger, Dali) and his contemporaries (Tod Schorr, Joe Coleman, Mark Ryden, Robert Williams) shows through his artistry. His attention to detail and symbolic emphasis truly sets this artist apart.
