Sarah Leahy "Light Camouflage"
Kim Foster Gallery
This event has ended.
The Kim Foster Gallery presents an exhibition of recent paintings by Sarah Leahy. The large-scale images are derived from her photographs, filtered through her sensibility. The subject is not the place, but capturing the interaction of light.
These are paintings made through a labor-intensive process of applying permanent black ink on a ¼” clear sheet of plexiglass. The paintings’ physicality slowly grows through the repetitious marking, building up to a surface with a luminous depth and density. Darkness is an accumulation of ink, while light is transparent glass. The images have a persistent presence, transforming something familiar to a specific perceptual experience.
