This event has ended.

tART at AIR includes the work of 35 artists who are part of the tART collective. tART is comprised of 46 emerging women artists nationwide who are committed to making art professionally. The network facilitates dialogue, collaboration, learning and teaching, public engagement, and activism.

This exhibition is, in part, an examination of the feminist art movement's development and influence on later generations of female artists. While the majority of the work in this show cannot be labeled as feminist, the work does reveal a cross section of art being made by emerging women artists. The works in the show are wide-ranging, not tending towards any one specific trend in art, rather exhibiting the depth and vitality possible in art world and indicative of the women who make up tART.

The exhibition is presented in the “salon” style. The salon tradition provides a rich subject for a contemporary feminist exhibition. Historically, “salon style” exhibitions of the 19th Century were surveys of contemporary art that excluded women, minorities and artists working on the fringe. This exhibition is an inclusive survey of tART members – highlighting our diversity as artists and as people, as varied as the women themselves.
