Art Directors Club Gallery

This event has ended.

The visual industry’s premiere gallery showcases an exhibition of several dozen of Eric Meola’s images in a spectacular display of his photographic odyssey to India where he discovered a kingdom of color, as well as the new India today—a country rapidly becoming
one of the pre-eminent leaders in the 21st Century. Proudly sponsored by Canon USA, these images appear in the book INDIA: In Word and Image, recently published by Welcome Books to extraordinary praise (welcomebooks.com/india/ praise.html) including a full page review in the NewYork Times Book Review.

Eric Meola has repeatedly returned to India, photographing its people, landscapes, architecture, celebrations, and art. Meola’s journeys took him from the Himalayas and monasteries in the north to the temples of Tamil Nadu in the south, from the color and pageantry of Rajasthan in the west to the tea plantations of Darjeeling in the east. From the more than two hundred photographs in his stunning, ambitious book come the several dozen for this exhibit. Camels in the dust at the Pushkar fair; a young boy crossing the Yamuna river on the back of a water buffalo; the spectacular celebration of Holi near Mathura; women singing
on their way home on a winding road in the countryside . . . each of Meola’s images is a work of art.
