Praxis International Art presents Los peores hombres cuentan las mejores historias, works by Rubén Torres Llorca (b. Havana, Cuba. 1957).

"Los peores hombres cuentan las mejores historias", is an exhibit that transcends the assumptions accepted by contemporary art. Rubén Torres Llorca uses a series of tacitly prohibited resources: he cites literary texts at random, combines them with art pieces that unabashedly dare to expose the zones of sentimental or political-economical desperation. He extracts forms and content from an array of popular religiousness and from the melodramatic narrative of the romantic bolero to build a huge installation that leads the spectator to an experience where the intimate and the public form an unruly aesthetic under the sign of exhaustion.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Rubén Torres Llorca moved to Miami in 1993, where he has been living and working uninterruptedly. Since the early 1980s, he has had numerous exhibitions in Latin America, the United States and Europe, and his works are included in prestigious private and public collections such as The Miami Art Museum (MAM), The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes of Havana, Cuba, The Ludwig Forum fur Internationale Kunst in Germany, and also El Museo del Barrio, among others.
