"One World, Masks and Monoprints" Exhibition
The Art Students League of New York
This event has ended.
Suzanne Benton has presented her multidisciplinary work in 29 countries, often on tours sponsored by the U.S. Information Service. Her work draws upon such varied sources as Indian miniatures, Greek myth and South Asian folk art. Much of Benton’s art-making has focused on women’s experiences and feminist themes. For her welded metal masks, she has created stories of female characters who express strength, courage, or outrage. Since 1971 she has performed these “mask tales” at 220 venues around the world, including Bombay and Sarajevo
