This event has ended.

A comprehensive exhibition of the work of Alan Gussow (1931-1997) in conjunction with the publication of the first monograph of the artist’s work by Martica Sawin, "Alan Gussow--A Painter’s Nature." In his art and life, Gussow cultivated an understanding of what he referred to as an “earth support system” between man and nature, a concept now gaining worldwide currency. An environmentalist, teacher, author, and activist Gussow was above all an artist devoted to exploring the mysterious synthesis of human and natural order. Treading the line between abstraction and representation, Gussow’s paintings celebrate universal themes through particular and personal insights. Gussow has been honored with over 50 one man shows and his work is represented in public collections both at home and abroad.
