Deborah Stern expands her exploration of sound, space, and structure in her new exhibition, ³Reverberation². A continuation in progress of her 2007 show ³Acoustic Paintings², these new works evolve from several distinct facets of the phenomena of reverberation as applied to visual elements. Creating images based upon architectural forms that normally are designed to augment or enhance ³the persistence of sound in a particular space after the original sound has been removed², Stern¹s imagery is one of a fragmented and decaying architecture within a context of randomness, as can be seen in post-destructive debris or explosiveness, without the formal representation of such events. Such randomness further examines the decay of internal light sources within the created spaces, based upon positioning, spatial depth, and color theory.
