Charles Ritchie "Books and Pages, 2004-2009"
BravinLee Programs
This event has ended.
BravinLee programs announces that this show of Books and Pages by Charles Ritchie has finally arrived. We first came across the work in 2007 on the website of collector Mickey Cartin. We
immediately contacted Charles Ritchie and soon after included him in our artists’ book program by selecting him as our very first project.
Charles Ritchie’s work has been shown and collected by many museums. Ritchie’s masterful drawings are about specific times and places but take on timeless issues that have preoccupied artists through at least 800 years of art history— the pursuit and struggle to recreate the visual world as well as the implied inner-world revealed from rendering perfected perception of light form and complex space. Ritchie’s deceptively modest, small scaled works on paper are intensely exquisite, muscular and authoritative in expressing the physics of light, space and the human condition.
