Original sin has never been expressed so originally.
extra ecclesiam nulla salus
(Outside the church, there is no salvation.)
-Saint Cyprian of Carthage
The statement extra ecclesiam nulla salus of Cyprian (3rd Century A.D.), an early Christian saint, was used by Pope Innocent III (r. 1198-1216) to justify the Crusades (against heretics) and Pope Boniface VIII (r. 1294-1303) to assert authority in matters of Church and state.

In Baptized Catholic, co-curated by John Ogren and Brenda Bradley, 17 artists, each christened a Roman Catholic, present 17 works, deliciously irreverent and provocatively iconoclastic responses to the Church's magisterium or teaching.

Baptized Catholic opens on December 6, the Feast of Saint Nicolas and closes on January 6, the Feast of the Epiphany.

Opening reception: December 11, 2009, the Feast of Saint Maria Maravillas de Jesus, 6-10 pm.
