This event has ended.

An exhibition of recent work by the acclaimed Guatemalan photographer, Luis González Palma. He is well-known for his stark portraits of men, women, and children staring intently at the camera. The gelatin silver prints have a coffee-colored tone, evocative of colonial-era photographs. But the whites of the eyes are left a stark white, heightening the intended focus on the “gaze”—the stare. González Palma has written that the face is a symbol of the human condition, and that the direct, unmediated, gaze of individuals reveals both their dignity and their fragility.
