William Baker, Partner in Charge of Structural and Civil Engineering at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, will present recent and on-going research conducted under his leadership by a group of structural engineers and architects. This work is aimed at developing new structural systems and design approaches, creating new opportunities for architectural forms and expressions. The research has led to the emergence of a series of “tools” or techniques that can be used to study design problems and pose solutions with a strong technical basis.
Susan Szenasy, Editor-in-chief of Metropolis Magazine, will introduce and moderate the discussion.
